Kayts Magistrate A. Judeson ordered to arrest and produce in court Sub Inspector Sundaresan Sri Gajan, who was attached to Jaffna Police Station and had allegedly helped the suspects of the Vidya murder case to flee.
Sivaloganathan Vidya was sexually abused and murdered in Punkudutheevu in Jaffna in May, 2015.   The Judge gave this order when the case against the former Northern Province DIG Lalith Jayasinghe for allegedly helping the suspects to escape, was taken up on Wednesday (10).

The CID reported to the court that SI Sri Gajan had directly involved in helping the convicted main accused ‘Swiss Kumar’ and other suspects of the Vidya murder case to flee.

The relevant police officer too had fled since and police is conducting investigations to apprehend him, police informed the court.

The next hearing was fixed for January 30, 2019 and the Judge also directed the Attorney General to submit his opinions.
