Ekneligoda’s disappearance: Lt. Col. Peiris remanded

Military Intelligence Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Erantha Peiris, who was arrested in connection with the disappearance of senior journalist Prageeth Ekneligoda, was yesterday remanded till September 28 by Homagama Magistrate Udesh Ranatunga.  

The CID yesterday arrested Mr. Peiris, who is the Commanding Officer of the 7th Battalion of the Military Intelligence Corps.   


He was summoned by the CID for questioning on Thursday and later arrested.  Journalist Ekneligoda went missing in January 24, 2010 and investigations into his disappearance were launched in March 2015.   Earlier, the CID arrested several military intelligence officers in connection with the disappearance of Ekneligoda and later released on bail.
